A Neo-Traditional Tattoo for Good Luck

We usually pay tribute on our skin to something or someone who is no longer with us.

But this client wanted a tattoo of her cat's paw, who was very ill. And she gave me complete freedom to create the design.

So I drew the paw exactly but decided to add a netsuke, the golden cap similar to those used on rabbit paws for good luck, since these are symbols of good fortune.

I wanted this design to feel like an amulet that would help improve the cat's health.

This project was 6 x 5 inches and cost about $600.
